I mean, I’m not the biggest fan of Republicans—actually, I’m not a fan at all—but lately Democrats seem kind of stumped as to where they should go. And, economically, Republicans have some pretty solid models and fundamentals that our Donkeys would be wise to consult with. That, and it forces Obama to stick to one of his campaign platforms: a government that is run fairly, one that denounces political polarization and synthesizes the ideas of right, left, and in between.
At this point the people trust Republicans more, and they demonstrated that yesterday. Correct political route or not, a government isn’t going to go anywhere without the nation’s trust. If Republicans could learn to compromise—and not filibuster the fuck out of every proposal—then maybe Democrats will start listening and we can get some forward movement.
But probably not.
